Apple has become the latest company to express concerns about the provisions in the UK's Online Safety Bill relating to end-to-end encryption. Earlier this week, The Guardian reported that Apple had announced its support of the bill, arguing that it would provide critical protection for the privacy of journalists, human rights activists, and diplomats. In particular, the company is calling for the bill to be amended to offer explicit protections for end-time encryption in this section. It argues that providing such protections cannot be allowed to hamper efforts to catch perpetrators of the most serious crimes.”End-To-End encrypted messaging prevents any outside party from reading the contents of messages. This enables law enforcement authorities to more easily track down criminals.
