He has won many awards in career , including the Ballon d'Or (2003), Serie A (2001--02, 2002--03), Serie A: (1999--00), Coppa Italia: (1997--98, 1999--00), UEFA Super Cup , (1999), and many more. He was also listed in Pele's Top 100 of Living Footballers in the World. He retired from international football in 2006, and retired from it at club level in 2009.
