Phase five of polling begins today in West Bengal in the midst of rising covid cases, the state recorded over 6000 cases and 26 deaths in the last 24 hours. On the other hand, it can be seen that the state chief electoral had hours-long meeting with the key parties over violation of the covid protocols during elections. The Election Commission now has ordered a new set of curbs, Election Commission says that “No rallies, public meetings and campaigning’s shall be allowed on any campaigning days between 7 pm and 10 am”. The silent period has also increased from 48 hours to 72 hours for the rest of the phases in Bengal.
