Uganda Airlines on 31st May inaugurated its much-awaited flights between Entebbe and Johannesburg.
A month ago, the airline made known of their plans to commence flights to South Africa.
“The moment is here! Uganda Airlines send-off ceremony for its inaugural flight to Johannesburg,” the airline shared on their social media page at the launch of the flights between Entebbe and Johannesburg today.
Uganda Airlines will begin with four weekly flights to Johannesburg, which becomes its newest destination.
Currently, Uganda Airlines operates direct flights from its hub in Entebbe to and from Nairobi, Mombasa, Dar es Salaam, Zanzibar, Kilimanjaro, Juba, Bujumbura, Mogadishu, and Kinshasa.
The national carrier operates a fleet of four CRJ 900 series in East and Central Africa and now South Africa.
Uganda airlines also plans to expand its regional destinations to Asmara in Eritrea, Hargeisa in Somaliland, Lusaka in Zambia, Harare in Zimbabwe, Djibouti, and Addis Ababa in Ethiopia.
In addition, Uganda Airlines is set to expand its routes beyond Africa this year with the airline announcing plans to fly to Dubai, London, Guangzhou, and Mumbai. Uganda acquired two Airbus A330neo aircraft that will ply the long routes
