In this episode, you will see our journey to Sarnath, Namo ghat and food exploration in Banaras.
This video was shot on 4th August 2022, Following are the details of the journey done by us which are part of this day.
Breakfast at Ram Bhandar in Thatheri Bazaar - 2pc Kachori Sabji Rs 50. It is quite a popular shop amongst the tourists & locals.
Namo Ghat - Just 3 km from Dashashwamedh Ghat, It was previously known as Khidkiya ghat, inaugurated in recent times, less number of tourists are aware of this place.
Sarnath - Around 7 km from namo ghat. This was the place where Lord Gautam Buddha delivered his first sermon.
Sarnath Museum - Oldest archaeological site museum, in which we saw remarkable 3rd Century artifacts. This is located just opposite the Sarnath ruins site.
Mulagandha Kuti Vihar - Also known as Sri lankan temple in which you will the fresco paintings on the wall of main temple. Sacred relics of Buddha are also preserved in the temple.
In the evening we proceeded towards Dashashwamedh ghat to see the evening aarti. It starts at 7pm, generally people starts gathered around the aarti 5:30 pm to 6 pm so they get to see the closest view of the aarti.
Shri Vishalakshi Temple - 500 metres from Dashashwamedh ghat & 200 metres from Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple, we visited one of the 51 shakti peeth temple. Varanasi is one of few cities in india, where you will find a Jyotirlinga & Shaktipeeth which is quite uncommon.
I noticed many south indian devotees in this temple.
In the next episode you will see we visited the Banaras Hindu University, explored the street food & attended evening aarti at Assi Ghat.
