Compétences Québec is committed to encouraging and promoting skilled trades and vocational and technical training programs to ensure Québec’s economic prosperity.

In line with this, Compétences Québec administers and develops various major Internet platforms dedicated to vocational and technical training in Québec, including the Inforoute FPT website.

In addition to the Inforoute FPT website, Compétences Québec also manages the Service régional d’admission en formation professionnelle (SRAFP). Intimately linked to Inforoute FPT, this platform is a management system for applications that allows vocational training educational organizations the possibility to centralize their information and offer students a simple admissions process. With over 800,000 visitors every year, the SRAFP is the gateway to skilled trades in Québec.

Also developed by Compétences Québec, FindYourOwnTrade.com is a portal of general information on skilled trades in Québec as well as vocational and technical training programs. With over 200 occupation records referenced, this website offers information on placement rates, hourly wages and career prospects. With millions of page views per year, FindYourOwnTrade.com is a leading reference in its field.

In the pursuit of its mission to encourage and promote skilled trades and technologies, Compétences Québec organizes the Olympiades québécoises des métiers et des technologies. This skills competition showcases youth who have decided to study in a vocational training establishment or CEGEP in Québec. It is the largest competition in Québec dedicated to vocational and technical trades. Winners of this competition go on to represent Québec at Canadian Nationals and the International Skills Competition, which reunites 75 countries under the WorldSkills International umbrella.

Finally, Compétences Québec has developed the Défi des recrues in partnership with the Gouvernement du Québec. A contest for high school students with numerous activities designed to generate awareness and interest for vocational training programs offered in their region. Since 2017, with its ever-growing success, a dozen or so contests have been implemented throughout the province in different vocational centres.
