This video shows the brutal side of nature. A 3 day old cowbird chick in a finch nest was overfed seeds and choked to death. It appears the finch mother regurgitated too many seeds into the baby birds mouth which caused the chick to choke and suffocate. The finch mother was not able to remove the seeds before the chick died. This is a common risk for baby birds as their mouths at a very young age can easily be clogged causing them to suffocate if not helped. Usually mothers are able to remove the stuck food but sometimes they are unable to. An explanation video of this event will be coming out shortly.
