The Fiat 500e is powered by an electric engine and delivers 118HP & 220Nm of torque. An electric car has many advantages but also disadvantages. The acceleration of the electric motor is much faster and direct compared to a petrol/diesel engine. This is because when the electric car accelerates, it uses 100% of its torque as soon as the throttle is pressed down. The disadvantage is the charging of the electric cars. If you don't have a charging station that supports high kW, you have to charge for many hours. The Fiat 500e is powered by a front-wheel-drive System.
118 hp are perfect for the Fiat 500e daily driver, because they are comfortable and consume not much, nevertheless they accelerate very well. The Fiat 500e has a 1-Speed Automatic gearbox transmission.
Let's take a look at the Fiat 500e battery consumption. According to factory specifications, the manufacturers promise that the battery consumption is 14.3/100km but the driving style plays a big role, because if you drive sporty you can never keep the prescribed manufacturer consumption. On the other hand, if you drive very economically, you can even get below the factory specification. The battery capacity of Fiat 500e is 42 kWh. With a full charged battery, the Fiat 500e reaches 321 kilometers. For an everyday car this is acceptable. However, you have to consider that these numbers can only be achieved if you drive economically.
1365Kg is a little bit heavy for a Fiat 500e. A heavy car makes a car consume more. The heavy weight is not noticeable in the acceleration because the 118hp feel very quick. According to the factory, the Fiat 500e accelerates from 0-100 in 9 seconds, which is very impressive for 118hp, considering that the car is a little bit heavy at 1365kg. From our own experience we can confirm that the acceleration feels much faster. As with many electric cars, the Fiat 500e is limited to 150 km/h. The wind noise at higher speeds is comfortable.
The suspension of the Fiat is very good. The suspension can be changed in the different driving modes. In sport mode it is hard and stiffer and you have more feeling for the road and bumps, the car starts to bounce a little. In comfort mode, the suspension changes to soft, so you don't feel as much of the road. The handling in curves of the Fiat 500e is optimal, because you can drive even at high speeds in sharp curves without understeering or oversteering. However, the cornering position is also dependent on the weight. The steering is very accurate and direct, so you do not have to steer much. Even when braking down hard from high speeds, the car behaves quietly. The Fiat 500e sound from the interior and the exterior are very silent.
The size of the Fiat 500e is 3,6m in length and includes a width of 1,6m, which has the ideal vehicle size for daily use. This can be compared to a Abarth 595 Competizione
