"Finis’ absolute beginner ballet class is an escape, a time when I can totally focus on me. For 90 minutes I do not think about children or bills or the last faculty meeting. Instead, my focus is on the strength of my plié, whether I am utilizing my entire foot as I brush into a dégagé and whether I am balancing in ‘number one.’ The classical music aids in this escape allowing me to ‘be a dancer’ for 90 minutes. Finis reminds us that we are who we are at this stage in our lives and we need to accept that. That notwithstanding, anyone can learn proper technique and his teaching style insures that we understand and practice just that. An avid lover of dance all my life, the days of taking dance class 3-4 times a week in my 20’s took a back seat to the responsibilities of life. Now in my 50’s, through Finis’s class I can participate actively in dance once again rather than simply being an observer. FINIS JHUNG’S 2019 ADULT BALLET STUDENT WORKSHOP

Each day begins at the barre and then proceeds to center floor where you will practice basic linking steps; pirouettes; chaînés turns; basic jumps; the balancé and waltz; and choreographed dances.

“From plié to pirouette and the other basic ballet movements, Finis Jhung’s two-day workshop for beginners also includes instruction on posture, positions and ballet terminology. But
most of all Mr. Jhung focuses on how to move as ballet dancers do—with grace and precision. The day starts at the barre and progresses to dancing across the floor with various linking steps, learning how to pirouette, and concluding with choreography especially created by Mr. Jhung for beginners. THE 2019 FINIS JHUNG TEACHER WORKSHOP: "TEACH WHAT REALLY MATTERS"

Do you wish your students were better? Want them to nail their balances, turns and jumps? Wish they would dance across the floor with elegance and grace? They can, and would, if they knew HOW to do it. And that is what you will learn at this teacher workshop—HOW to do those elusive steps! For the past 45 years, Finis has been enlightening professionals as well as amateurs in New York City and at workshops and conventions in the USA and internationally. His teaching technique is based on years of studying the world’s best dancers in performance and on video and finding that these great artists prepare for balances, turns and jumps in ways not taught in the traditional ballet class.

At this workshop, you will learn the “untaught” preparations which will transform your dancers—and you. Bring your dance clothes so you can take class. Feel free to sit and observe whenever you wish.
