Transnet's National Ports Authority has rejected reports that a boat carrying people infected with Ebola is stranded at Richards Bay on the KwaZulu-Natal North Coast.
Some media reported earlier that a boat from Liberia was stranded at Richards Bay, and was carrying people believed to be infected with the Ebola virus. Transnet says no ship is stranded in the port. It says disease control at ports is the task of the Health Department, which has an office at each port. Transnet says when ships arrive outside a port, it has always been a legal requirement for the captain to report any illness on board. More than one-thousand people have died of Ebola in West Africa since March.
Doctors Without Borders James Kambuki says they welcome the vaccine but people must not rely on it because it is just an experiment .
