Seems Like Old Times (Lombardo-Loeb) by Guy Lombardo and his Royal Canadians, vocal by Don Rodney and The Lombardo Trio
Though his quavery vocal and saxophone playing style had long been the butt of jokes, Guy’s younger brother Carmen Lombardo happened to be an accomplished songwriter, turning out a number of hit tunes between the 1920s and 1950s. His “Seems Like Old Times,” initially a top-10 juke box record for both Lombardo and Vaughn Monroe in 1946, later gained unprecedented exposure and audience familiarity through its years as theme song for Arthur Godfrey’s wildly popular CBS morning show. Other Guy Lombardo tracks in the 1946 collection include “Symphony” “Give Me The Moon Over Brooklyn” “Shoo Fly Pie And Apple Pan Dowdy” “The Gypsy” (with Hildegarde) and “Christmas Island” (with the Andrews Sisters).
