In the mid-1980s some of the best riders in the world were brought together for the Transatlantic Challenge, testing their skills in a range of different events, with races on Grand Prix machines, unlimited cc Superbikes and more.
The entry lists read like a who's who of motorcycle legends - including Barry Sheene, Ron Haslam, Wayne Gardner, Mick Grant, Kenny Roberts, Freddie Spencer, Eddie Lawson, Randy Mamola, Wayne Rainey, Kevin Schwantz and many, many more.
This is fast and furious racing. With no championship at stake, and national pride at the fore, these guys are really going for it, and that guarantees some incident-packed racing - such as Haslam's massive off in '84.
In this clip it's leg 1 of the 1985 Transatlantic Challenge as Wayne Gardner, Rob McElnea, Ron Haslam and Roger Marshall of team GB/Commonwealth faced off against the USA representatives of Randy Mamola, Mike Baldwin and Jimmy Adamo at Donington Park.
