In this video I look at the Albrecht CL27 longer rubber duck antenna for handheld CB radios, and see if it really can make a difference over the stock antennas, needless to say I was impressed by the results even though my test was cut short by a phone call that took priority while I was out shopping.

This antenna is 54cm long, still a bit short at CB radio frequencies however when you compare it to stock rubber duck antennas found on modern handheld CBs this really is the difference between making contact with another party on a handheld or not should you be a considerable distance away, remember that CB radios operate in frequencies in the 11-meter band so the bigger the antenna the better the range

I said the price of the antenna was £25 from Thunderpole, it's actually £29.99 for both the BNC an TNC variants, I bought a BNC version because both my handheld CB radios are fitted with BNC connectors, I will be ordering another one later down the line and will be testing to see how it fairs with both ends using this antenna, and if you do use a handheld CB radio this antenna is a worthwhile investment.
