I just whipped up this video to show some real world performance figures of Haswell vs Ivy bridge, in particular my i5-4670k vs my i5-3570k, both clocked at 4.2ghz to keep things fair and to show the ICP improvements this time around. I imagine the i7-3770k vs i7-4770k would be a similar story.
The results showed that the clock for clock performance (ICP) gains were about 5% in sythetics and for Skyrim the numbers were probably a bit of an annomoly (I will test some other games over the next coming weeks).
The main thing to remember with Haswell though is that it runs at a super stable 4.6ghz vs Ivy which got to 4.2ghz super stable, so the ICP gains and overclocking increase together make for a decent improvement, nothing stellar but still decent. The most impressive improvements though were from MSI with their awesome series of motherboards this time around, looks like they want to get back into the game and take some of the share away from Asrock and their z87 extreme4 value king.
The LGA1150 vs LGA1155 is really not that much different except for the new Motherboards offering some great new features :).
