In this dreamy session Jamie Isaac and his band perform two stand-out tracks from his album "(4:30) Idler," the swinging "Doing Better" and the sultry and soulful "Maybe."
A lad from Croydon, England who grew up listening to funk, soul, and rare groove in his dad’s cab, Isaac talks about the influence of Chet Baker’s melodic playing and Marvin Gaye’s vocal layering, but when it came to revisiting his brooding 2016 debut album Couch Baby, he lined up remixes from hip-hop artists such as Wiki, Salomon Faye and Kanye collaborator Allan Kingdom. Inspired by his long battle with insomnia, Idler is a record of mellow, melancholy jazz pop that is distinctly contemporary.
