Sanford is the 2nd largest City in York County Maine with well over 20,000 people. It is centrally located to many towns which surround it including Kennebunk, Wells, Ogunquit, North Berwick, Lebanon, Acton, Shapleigh, Alfred and Waterboro. Many of the people that live in these neighboring towns shop in the Sanford stores which include Lowes, Walmart, Tractor Supply, Eldredge Lumber and over two dozen great restaurants, many of which are privately owned. Sanford has lake front properties on Bauneg Beg, Estes and Number 1 Pond. It is also part of the Mousam river system. Although Sanford Maine has its own airport, it is 45 minutes to Portland and Portsmouth which have airports with the major airlines. Frequent travelers on business however, often choose to fly out of Boston (90 minutes away) especially during the winter due to potential canceled flights.
