(5 Sep 2020) Around 200 people demonstrated on Friday afternoon at the so-called "ground zero" of the protests in the Chilean capital of Santiago.
Demonstrators banged pots to show their support for the constitutional plebiscite happening in October.
The plebiscite was originally scheduled to be held in April but was delayed due to the coronavirus quarantine.
The proposal aims to replace the constitution drafted during the dictatorship of General Augusto Pinochet.
Chile has been roiled by continuing and sometimes violent street protests since last October, when a student protest over a modest increase in subway fares turned into a much larger and broader movement with a long list of demands that largely focus on inequality.
According to a tally by Johns Hopkins University the country has reported over 418,000 COVID-19 cases and 11,494 deaths.
Some protesters were arrested for breaking social distancing regulations that bar gatherings of more than 50 people.
