A few years back I had tried to practice Marathi in Andheri East area of Mumbai but I had no luck. I found out that most of the people there selling vegetables were from out of state and only spoke Hindi.
Neverthless I at least went out and spoke a few phrases and plant to next time visit other areas of Mumbai and try my luck there in finding native speakers of Marathi.
