In this how to video my wife and I make an ocean in a bottle for our son. This is an easy DIY project that makes a fun toy and can lead to hours of enjoyment.
All you need is a bottle, some cooking oil and fun items to put in the bottle. I chose to use some shells, some beads, rock granuals and a tiny message in a bottle. I also added some blue food colouring to give it the ocean feel. After you have put all the items in the bottle and added the food colouring, I suggest using epoxy to glue the lid to the bottle. This will prevent the accidental spills.
The bottle doesn't need to be ocean themed, you can literally put anything you want in it!
That being said, learn from my mistakes and don't put rock granules or sand in your bottle. It will make the oil and water really hazy, instead I recommend aquarium rocks. Also make sure to choose a bottle that is an appropriate size for your child. The one I choose was too big for my son to handle on his own.
