Variations of this great street dish can be found throughout the Morocco , Egypt and Turkey.
In many households or restaurants, Kefta/Kofta (poached meatballs) are prepared in batches and stored in the refrigerator or in the freezer.
KEFTA TAGINE
Kefta MIx:
♥ 1 lb.ground lamb
♥ 1 lb. ground beef
♥ 1 large onion( chopped)
♥ 4 cloves garlic (minced)
♥ 1 small bunch parsley( chopped)
♥ 1 tsp dried mint
♥ 1 tbsp ras-el-hanout
♥ 1 tsp ground coriander
♥ 1 tsp ground cumin
♥ 1 tsp Aleppo pepper
♥ salt and pepper to taste
Kefta Sauce:
♥ 2 cups water
♥ 2 tbsp butter or Ghee
♥ ½ red bell pepper (cubed)
♥ ½ yellow bell pepper (cubed)
♥ ½ orange bell pepper (cubed)
♥ 4-5 Roma tomatoes (cubed)
♥ 1 cup tomato sauce
♥ salt and pepper to taste
6 large eggs.
Fresh mint
Sumac (to sprinkle over eggs)
Sour cream or yogurt(for serving)
Pita bread or rustic bread.
