Ninety years ago, in 1927, the Scottish Country Dance Society held its first Summer School here in St Andrews. In the same year Book 4 was published.
To celebrate this occasion the team demonstrated three dances from that book. They started with ‘Torryburn Lassies’ then danced ‘Haughs o’ Cromdale’ and finished with ‘The Merry Dancers’.
The dancers come from Canada, England, Germany, Hungary, Norway and Trinidad. The team was trained by Mervyn Short and accompanied by Robert Mackay on the piano.
Filmed at Younger Hall in St. Andrews, the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society holds their Summer School every year during the months of July and August.
Thank you to all the dancers who participated in the demonstration, and to those who joined us for Week One of Summer School 2017!
