On 21 May 1951 Meena Kumari was involved in a serious motor car accident while returning from Mahabaleshwar to Bombay. Kumari was admitted to Sasoon hospital Poona, this accident left Meena Kumari with a demaged banded left pinky which remained banded through out her life Kumari used to cover her left hand with dupatta or saree during shoots.
