✋Hello! Today we will walk along the Ong Ang canal in Bangkok. This charming place is a newly renovated tourist spot of the city. Let's take a stroll by the canal on the walking street decorated with street art murals by local artists.
Ong Ang Canal (Khlong Ong Ang) was dug during the reign of King Rama I after Bangkok was established as the new Thai capital in 1782. "Ong ang" means pottery and "Khlong" means canal in Thai. The name comes from the fact that this place was a point of trade in pottery in the past. In the recent past the canal was used to drain the wastewater. In 2015 a transforming project was launched and the area was cleaned. Thanks to this renovation the canal was turned into a new charming touristic spot of Bangkok. There are kayaks for rent, so we can also enjoy the scenery from the water of the canal. There is sidewalk on the both sides with many eateries and shops. From Friday to Sunday, from 4 PM to 10 PM the canal area is full of food stalls and there are music events.
May happiness be with this place.
