Authorities in Indonesia rushed to evacuate reluctant residents from villages near the erupting Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki in Flores Timur on Sunday (November 10). The 1,584-meter volcano has been active since November 3, spewing volcanic material from its crater and forcing an expanded danger zone. With a limited number of vehicles, only those willing to leave could be evacuated, while others like Matheus Budi preferred to evacuate on their own. The Indonesian Volcanology Agency has expanded the restricted zone to 9 km from the crater.
