■ GUADALUPE STATION: It is a station on the Manila Metro Rail Transit System Line 3. The station is one of the many elevated stations that can be found on the line. It is located in
Makati, Philippines and is named because of its location in Barangays Guadalupe Nuevo and Guadalupe Viejo in Makati. Both barangays are in turn named after Our Lady of Guadalupe. The station is the ninth station for trains headed to Taft Avenue and the fifth station for trains headed to North Avenue. It's the last station of the line south of the Pasig River.
Guadalupe station is near two major seminaries: the San Carlos Seminary and the Our Lady of Guadalupe Minor Seminary, both of which are staffed by the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Manila. It is also near Guadalupe Shopping Center, a shopping complex and public market connected to the station's concourse by an elevated walkway. Other nearby landmarks include the centuries-old Nuestra Señora de Gracia Church, Guadalupe Nuevo Cloverleaf Park, and Hotel Sogo. The Makati City Hall and University of Makati are also accessible via J.P. Rizal Avenue and J.P. Rizal Avenue Extension, respectively. Guadalupe station is also the nearest station to the
Rockwell Center, home to the Power Plant Mall. Passengers can board jeepneys, taxis, buses, and UV Express to various points from the station, including eastern Makati, Taguig, Pasay,
Mandaluyong, Pateros, and southern Manila. Tricycles can be found in areas further away from EDSA that serve locally within Guadalupe. The Guadalupe Pasig River Ferry Station is also located nearby, while a new EDSA Busway station is located at the nearby Guadalupe Bridge. A portion of the southbound platform of the station leading to the emergency stairs is utilized as an access point to the EDSA Busway station.
The station will be adjacent to the upcoming SkyTrain, built by Alliance Global, that will run from this station to Uptown Bonifacio in the northern side of Bonifacio Global City. It will also be connected to the future Guadalupe Station of the planned Makati Intra-city Subway.
■ ORTIGAS STATION: It is a station on the Manila Metro Rail Transit System Line 3. The station is located in the Mandaluyong portion of Ortigas Center (under Barangay Wack Wack Greenhills East) and is named after either Ortigas Center or Ortigas Avenue, which is nearby. Ortigas station is the sixth station for trains headed to Taft Avenue and the eighth station for trains headed to
North Avenue. East exit of the station is notorious among commuters as the escalator uses up most of the sidewalk space on EDSA, leaving pedestrians no choice but to squeeze through the narrow remainder of the sidewalk in between the side of the escalator and the sidewalk fencing. The station serves the Ortigas business district and is located beside the Asian Development Bank headquarters. It is near major shopping malls, such as Robinsons Galleria, SM Megamall, The Podium and St. Francis Square Mall; as well as the HQ of the Meralco, UnionBank, Robinsons Bank and JG Summit Holdings. Few govt buildings are also located in the station's vicinity including the central offices of the Department of Transportation, Securities and Exchange Commission and the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration, as well as educational institutions like Saint Pedro Poveda College and La Salle Green Hills. The EDSA Shrine, Meralco
Theater, Lopez Museum, The Medical City, Eton Cyberpod, Holiday Inn, Crowne Plaza and Oakwood Premier hotels are also nearby.
West of the station is the gate to Wack Wack Village at Berkeley Street, where the Wack Wack
Golf and Country Club is located. Buses, jeepneys and taxis serve the station, but passengers may board them from either Robinson's Galleria (buses, jeepneys, taxis, UV Express) or SM Megamall (buses, taxis, UV Express). Buses ply both EDSA and Ortigas Avenue routes, while jeepneys ply along Ortigas Avenue for routes heading to Pasig and the province of Rizal to the east, and San Juan and the City of Manila to the west. Passengers bound for Clark International Airport may ride either a Philtranco bus at the back of SM Megamall Building A or a Genesis Transport point-to-point (P2P) bus at Robinsons Galleria.
■ WALK ROUTE: Walk tour starts along EDSA, Ortigas Avenue, Emerald Avenue, Dona Julia Vargas Avenue, San Miguel Avenue, Shaw Boulevard then EDSA.
