Putting a ring on a baby pigeon is a very important thing to be done if your racing or showing your pigeons, its a handy way of keeping track of the bird & its breeding plus other important information.
I try and put the rings on my baby pigeons between 5 - 10 days old between my pairs it does differ in the size of the babies they will breed, so i just keep an eye on the young pigeons in the nest.
As i dont like to put the rings on early that they are loose & there is a chance they can come off, it is common the adults will throw the rings out of the nest and its fun trying to find them in the loft.
Here we are putting the rings from my racing pigeon club on some of my young birds for the coming racing season.
