In this video, I provide a review of the Giant Defy Advanced 2, which is Giant's entry-level endurance road performance machine. This is an upgraded version of the Defy, released in 2019, and there are some notable changes that I will discuss.
Firstly, the new version of the Defy comes with Giant De-fuse technology, which helps to reduce road shock and vibrations. This technology was previously only present in the rear of the bike, but it now also features in the handlebar system. Additionally, cable routing has been improved for a more seamless look, and advancements in carbon fibre construction have reportedly made the frame more compliant and stiffer. Finally, there is increased capacity to fit larger tires, with the bike now able to accommodate up to 32mm.
In my review, I break the analysis of the bike into two parts: the bike itself and the riding experience. I conclude with my opinion on the type of rider that would best suit this bike.
The Giant Defy Advanced 2 comes equipped with reliable Shimano 105, including disc brakes, and offers plenty of gearing with an 11-34 cog on the rear. The wheels are Giant's own PR2 Discs, and the De-Fuse technology is featured in the seat post and handlebars. These engineered tube shapes are designed to absorb road shocks and vibrations for a smoother ride.
