Purcell's unique genius is revealed in all it's subtlety and might in this magical song from The Fairy-Queen, "One Charming Night". In under three minutes Purcell sets us alight with all the sweet agony our hearts are capable of. The most intimate and nocturnal of settings was needed here, lit by candles and moonlight, obscured by shadows and wisps of smoke.
