Interview: Hisham Al-Omeisy, Senior Adviser to the European Institute of Peace, tells SBS World News reporter Liz Maddock that the current trajectory suggests Yemen is heading for a severe escalation with Israel which Yemenis will pay the price for.
Israel has attacked several targets across Yemen including ports and Sana’a airport, saying it was targeting Houthi military infrastructure. The UN insists they were civilian assets.
The rebel group has been locked in tit-for-tat exchanges with Israel for over a year, and there are concerns now of escalation, with Israel vowing to end the Houthis.
