How to produce your own onion seeds from your best onions.
Select a big or nice shaped couple of onions that you have grown this year.
Store them as normal and then around Christmas time plant them into pots of compost in a frost free bright place.
The onion will start to grow again and send up new leaves, then later on it will send up a number of flowers.
Let the bees pollinate the flowers and when the seeds are formed after another couple of months and turn blac this means they are ready to harvest.
Store the seed in a cool place and you'll have your own strain of onion seed to use.
