Do you know how to say zero in English?
Is it oh, zero, nought or nil? And what’s love got to do with zero?
That little numeric figure ‘0’ seems so innocent and yet, it causes so much confusion to English Language learners.
Isn’t it all the same? A zero is a zero.
I’m afraid it isn’t a simple zero. How you say the figure depends on the context in which you say the figure ‘zero’.
In this lesson, you’ll find out how and when to use:
‘oh’ (as in double oh 7 (007) James Bond)
‘zero’ - ever heard of the zero-sum game?
‘nought’ - is that before or after the decimal point?
‘nil’ - in what context
‘love’ - it’s all related to the French language!
Enjoy!
