'From the surface to the depths, exploring solutions for a sustainable ocean with Françoise Gaill'
We are thrilled to invite you to a session with Françoise Gaill, who will share her expertise on the oceans, essential regulators of our climate.
She will discuss the challenges they face, such as the exploitation of deep-sea mineral resources, which threatens unique and fragile ecosystems that remain largely unknown. These ecosystems, which harbor exceptional biodiversity, play a fundamental role in maintaining ecological and biological balance. She will also highlight the importance of international collaboration to protect this still poorly understood environment, which is essential to human life.
Françoise Gaill, a renowned French biologist and oceanographer, is an emeritus research director at the CNRS (French National Center for Scientific Research) and vice-president of the Ocean & Climate Platform. A specialist in deep-sea ecosystems and adaptation processes to extreme environments, she is also a scientific advisor for the Tara Ocean Foundation. Former director of the CNRS Institute of Ecology and Environment (INEE), she has participated in numerous international oceanographic campaigns throughout her career.
