The Cranston Police Department said it has captured a suspect accused of a violent carjacking on Friday morning.

The department said the suspect, Matthew Figueroa Hernandez, 20, of Providence, was captured in North Kingstown.

According to police, he will be charged with first-degree robbery, assault on person over 60 resulting in serious bodily injury, domestic simple assault and battery, and domestic disorderly conduct.
