The much-awaited Mumbai Metro 7 and Metro 2A metro trains will be inaugurated on April 2, which is Gudipadva day, by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray.
Both lines are fully elevated and Metro 2A, running from Dahisar west to D.N. Nagar (Andheri west), and Metro 7, from Dahisar east to Andheri east, would immensely benefit the people in the north-western suburbs.
The Mumbai Metropolitan Regional Development Authority (MMRDA) is constructing a 35-km stretch of two elevated metro corridors—Line 2A between Dahisar and D N Nagar and Line 7 between Dahisar East and Andheri East. These two new metro lines will run parallelly on the east and west side of the suburb and are expected to decongest the Western Express Highway, the major arterial road of Mumbai.
The first phase between Dahisar to Kandivali for Metro-2A and Dahisar to Aarey for Metro-7 will be thrown open to the public. According to MMRDA officials, the entire corridor will be operational by October.
The MMRDA plans to maintain a frequency of 10 minutes between the metro trains — expected to have six coaches each — and the fare will be between ₹10 to ₹40.
