Throughout the Second World War, the French Resistance were one of the most feared opponents and enemies of the German Army. However if resistance members were caught, then they would be subjected to torture and then execution. Inside of Paris is a centuries old Fort which was used to defend the city during the Franco-Prussian War, but this would during World War 2 become a site of execution.
Fort Mont-Valerien would during World War 2 be the place where over 1,000 members of the French Resistance were executed on a firing range. Each day people were being shot by the German Army here, and it became a feared site of terror and execution.
