This video is about David Greig's version of Aeschylus' play The Suppliant Women. Greig's version is really interesting because he emphasizes the references to democracy in the original, making the role of democratic decision making more central to the play, while at the same time, the production run under Ramin Gray's direction used Choruses of women drawn from the various cities the show played in. Through these local Choruses of women who aren't professional actors, there's a communal, civic element to the productions, which enacts a sort of democratic engagement through the production process itself.
