The Washington Metro transportation system is a high-threat target. The Transit Police Department recognizes that threat and approaches each day prepared for the worst. The MTPD is equipped with one of the country's only three bomb squads dedicated to mass transit as well as an impressive Explosive Detection K9 unit. In addition, the MTPD has the distinction of working in 3 different jurisdictions, Maryland, DC and Virginia.
