Is your hand placement in bridge correct? 🖐️✋🤗
Hands under shoulders allow better bone stacking which can enable you to hold a bridge longer and with more ease. If the arms are too wide, it puts a lot more stress on your arms muscles and can feel harder to hold. Also, having hands under the shoulder gives you a taller (and eventually tighter) bridge.
When I see fingers pointing in, that signals potential internal rotation from the shoulders. This can cause a bridge to feel pinch, painful for the shoulder, and uncomfortable to hold. Slight external rotation of the shoulders, with index or middle finger pointing forward helps make bridges feel more comfortable and allow us to push tall through the shoulders for a stronger, more stable bridge.
Those points being said, we all have different bodies and are in different stages of our flexibility journey so bridges will look and feel different from person to person. These are just some insights that have been helpful for my students so I wanted to share with y'all!
