THE IAN FLEMING ALMANAC
December 1947
HORIZON magazine, owned and edited by Fleming’s friend Cyril Connolly, has been publishing a series of articles by different authors about living in various places around the world called “Where Shall John Go?”
For the thirteenth installment, published in December 1947, he invites Fleming to contribute.
Fleming writes glowingly about the virtues of Jamaica, where he had just finished building his villa, Goldeneye.
The piece is later expanded and reappears alongside writing by several other authors in the book, “Ian Fleming Introduces Jamaica.” Edited by journalist Morris Cargill, the book was published by Andre Deutsch in 1965, after Ian Fleming’s passing.
