When using Meguiar's Ultimate Ceramic Coating, preparation is key. We recommend washing the vehicle and chemical decontamination step. By prepping the surface properly, it allows the coating to form a direct, strong bond with the surface. Performing a paint correction step can then be optional. However, if oxidation or water spots are present, this will inhibit a full bond with this product and potentially compromise the performance.
Application: Spray the car ceramic coating directly, about 3-4 inches away from the panel to prevent overspray. Work up to 1 panel at a time with about one spray for every one square foot. Immediately start spreading and wiping in the coating with methodical wipes until you see the product starting to flash off. When it appears uniform and even, flip to a clean part of your towel or use a separate microfiber towel.
Troubleshooting High Spots or Streaks: If you can't seem to get the coating leveled out and glossy, use a clean, fresh microfiber towel and continue to wipe to level the product. If a spot has been on there for a while and won't come off, take a damp microfiber towel using just water and wipe, followed by a dry microfiber towel for a final wipe-off.
Curing: Avoid all moisture for the first 24 hours after the application. Then, the full cure time is seven days. For seven days, avoid washing or applying any detailing chemicals to the paint. If you need to wipe something off, use a damp microfiber towel during the curing time.
Maintaining: Wash or wipe down at least once every week or two to keep contaminants from building up on the coating. Make sure you're using premium accessories. To maximize the hydrophobic properties of the ceramic coating we recommend Hybrid Ceramic Wash & Wax and Hybrid Ceramic Detailer.
