Dearest St. Dominic Savio, you spent your short life totally for love of Jesus and His Mother.

I come to you today seeking prayers for (name youth) and all delinquent or troubled teens.

I ask you to intercede for (name person) praying that his/her heart be opened by the Holy Spirit and filled with every grace he/she needs to turn away from bad influences, sinful endeavors, and harmful behaviors.

Please pray that his/her guardian angel protect and keep him/her from all influences of evil.

St. Dominic Savio, I trust in your prayers for (name youth).  

May your prayers, along with those of the Blessed Virgin Mary reach God’s ears and bring a new outpouring of God's love and mercy in his/her life.

MORE ABOUT ST. DOMINIC SAVIO


St. Dominic Savio is one of the youngest canonized saints, being only fourteen years old when he died. Most young saints were martyrs, but Dominic was declared a saint based on his virtuous everyday life. May his everyday virtue inspire us to grow in holiness in our own daily lives.


Dominic lived in the mid-1800s in Italy. He demonstrated a desire to grow close to God as young as the age of four, when he would go off alone to pray. His life is a wonderful example of how children can lead virtuous lives: obeying their parents and teachers, not playing with children when they behaved immorally, being close to his friends and speaking with them when they misbehaved, and frequenting the sacraments.

He received his First Communion at the age of seven, even though it was common at the time for children to wait until they were twelve, because he knew the teachings of the Church and understood that Jesus was present in the Eucharist. In preparation for his First Communion, he prayed and asked his mother forgiveness for the ways he had wronged her.

He became the student of St. John Bosco when he was twelve. It is through the biography that John Bosco wrote about his young student that we know about St. Dominic’s life. Dominic would do physical penances like making his bed uncomfortable, sleeping in the cold, fasting on bread and water, or wearing a hair shirt. In fear of his health, his superiors forbade these, and told him the best penance was to perform duties well.

St. Dominic prophesied that he would be the first of his friends to die. He found the Sodality of Mary Immaculate, a group whose mission was to seek Mary’s protection throughout life and at the moment of death. When he became ill, he said his farewells to his friends and received his last Confession and Communion, even though no one thought his illness was life-threatening. After receiving the anointing of the sick, he died at the age of fourteen.
