LMS Jubilee 45699 "Galatea" is seen passing Bamfurlong on the Winter Cumbrian Mountain Express on Saturday 27th January 2018.

The 2018 Railtour account is opened with the first steam tour of the year though here and what a bloomin' disaster. The tour left Manchester Victoria on time and then was allowed through Ordsall Lane Jnc 7 minutes early and in front of a Trans Pennine Express service which was forced to run behind it. When the tour reached the West Coast Main Line it was put onto the slow lines to allow the TPE to pass it and thus meant the loco was right ontop as it passed me, combine that with low light and impeccably timed rain drops on the lens and we get a shot I can safely say won't be in the highlight reel come the end of the year...

45699 "Galatea" is leading the tour from Manchester Victoria to Carlisle with 47772 on the rear for heating and assistance. The tour was advertised as running via Bolton however due to the farce involving the very overdue electrification programme it was routed via Wigan instead - which would have been nice to know in advance to book a pair of seats as me & the missus were going to do this one if it was via Wigan. Oh well...
