Walk through Lorna Doone Valley, Badgworthy Wood and by the Badgworthy Water. The well know 'Doone village' is strangely beautiful, set in a valley scattered with patches of scree. RD Blackmore used this location as the home of the Doones who in the novel are a band of outlaws robbing and pilaging locals.
The woods at Badgworthy Water (Exmoor National Park) contain starkly-contrasting oak and conifer plantations. The oak trees have been managed for centuries to provide bark for tanning and charcoal for use as fuel and for iron smelting.
Walk along the path through the Badgworthy Wood and enjoy the flow of Badgworthy Water while admiring the majestic beauty of Lorna Doone Valley.
