With any medical emergency, getting to the patient and getting them quickly to definitive care (hospital) can be essential to survival. Our rapid extraction (REMS) team is assigned to wildland fires to rescue downed firefighters in case of injury. Oftentimes, those fires are in steep and rough terrain- where it's impossible to get the injured out quickly. That's why the team is training with the Colorado National Guard.
