Adenium Simple to Adenium Bonsai – Tap Root Amputation Method is a video on adenium that shows how the main root of an adenium plant is cut off to turn it into a desert rose bonsai with radial roots, massive caudex and thick canopy. The update video towards the end of this upload exhibits the fantastic result in just one month.
As shown in the video, at first a desert rose plant of one year old is uprooted from its present pot. Then the adenium soil mix is removed from the root structure. Now the root structure is washed with water to completely remove adenium soil. After this the tap root is cut off with a sterilized sharp knife. A circular path is also cut for the radial roots to come out. Here I use Hydrogen Peroxide solution as the sterilizing agent. Now comes adenium pruning .The branches of the adenium desert rose is pruned leaving 2-3 nodes in the remaining part of each branch. Each cut area is covered with a thick paste of fungicide. The adanium is now left hanging in shade for 7 days for drying. Drying for some days reduces the chance of rotting and helps the adenium plant bonsai grow thick caudex. All these are part of bonsai training as well as adenium care. After seven days the plant is repotted in a shallow flat pot .While repotting the bottom of the plant is covered with a plastic plate so that vertical roots can`t grow. So the circular path is the only opening for the roots to come out. Now the pot is filled with adenium soil. The ratio of various ingredients of this adenium potting mix is captioned in the video. As for soil mix for adenium I don`t claim it`s the best soil for adenium. It works well for my plants. Interested viewers may check my video on potting mix for adenium. Anyway, after a month it is found that radial roots have come out from the circular path made for them and new shoots have appeared from the nodes. I`ll leave this plant in this pot from 6- 9 months. Friends this is the initial process of adenium bonsai care as well as adenium plant care.
dot base camp is a tutorial channel on Pot Gardening . In this channel I am committed to share my experience as well as knowledge that I`ve gathered on Pot Gardening specially on growing of Adeniums .I`ve been stick to Pot Gardening for over 20 years. Once I started Pot Gardening with some season plants. That was the starting point of my journey. In other words that was my Base Camp. But now I`m far away from that Base Camp. And now my Base Camp looks like a dot. Still I`m a learner, almost mad for learning. In this channel I, along with my valued learners, want to learn how Pot Gardening, from making pots to blooming, is made so beautiful, almost incredibly beautiful.
Videos on my adeniums, house plants, cactus, orchid and many experiments on adeniums, bonsai, pot making are generally uploaded in this channel. I have a little orchard in my terrace. I make videos on it though adenium is always my hot tea.
