The two sections of an extra large bridge over the Yellow River, the second longest river in China, were successfully joined together in its construction in Zhengzhou City of central China's Henan Province on Tuesday.
As part of the railway linking Zhengzhou and Jinan, the capitals of central China's Henan Province and east China's Shandong Province respectively, the bridge is designed as a common channel for many intercity and inter-provincial routes to cross the Yellow River.
With a total investment of 7.52 billion yuan (1.06 billion U.S. dollars), the mega bridge measures 34.3 kilometers in total length and has two storeys of a six-lane intercity expressway with a designed speed of 100 kilometers per hour and a four-lane railway with a designed speed of 350 kilometers per hour, respectively.
The construction of the main bridge is expected to be finished by the end of this year. [ Ссылка ]
