This session is moderated by Govindraj Ethiraj, founder of IndiaSpend and Boom. He’s joined by Mishi Choudhary, legal director of the Software Freedom Law Center and the founder of SFLC.in; Smitha Krishna Prasad, director of the Centre for Communication Governance at Delhi’s National Law University; Kazim Rizvi, founder of The Dialogue; Udbhav Tiwari, public policy advisor at Mozilla; and Vivan Sharan, partner at the Koan Advisory Group.

The panel discusses the importance of intermediaries, who define how individuals, organisations and government agencies use the internet. How do intermediaries help in connecting with family and friends, promoting brands, and engaging with citizens for governance? They analyse the Indian regulatory framework that governs intermediaries, the role of intermediaries in preserving free speech while combating hateful content, and the need to establish mechanisms to ensure that the right to privacy is not compromised.
