An explosion that hit the Arab Gas Pipeline near Damascus overnight on August 23-24 was described as “almost certainly a strike by ISIS” by the US Syria envoy, James Jeffrey.
The blast, between the towns of Dumayr and Adra, outside Damascus, interrupted the gas supply to power stations, state media said.
SANA, Syria’s state news agency, cited energy minister Ali Ghanem as saying the explosion was the result of a terrorist attack.
