Starting from this prelude on, Scriabin prepares an emotional ground for the most tragic prelude of the set - Prelude No.10 in C# minor. For this reason he starts both of the preludes No.8 and No.9 with C#. In this vulnerable prelude he repeats persistently the same C# in bass, from which he will start the prelude No.10.
