Item Number: P-3-00039
Political advertisement for Adlai Ewing Stevenson II [D-IL], Democratic candidate for United States President. The video was created in 1956 and entitled, “How's that again, general : Taft-Hartley". Estes Kefauver discusses Eisenhower's inability to change union busting. Includes clip of Eisenhower's 1952 campaign promise about the Taft-Hartley Act. Discusses: unions, trade, promises.
How's that again General? In the 1952 campaign, Mr. Eisenhower said this about Taft Heartily " I know how the law might be used to break unions, that must be changed! America wants no law used for union busting and neither do I!’ How's that again General? I know how the law might be used to break unions that must be changed! This is Estes Kefauver that was one more promise Eisenhower didn't keep. During four years in office the general did absolutely nothing about changing the union busting features about Taft Heartily. Once more he struck the National Labors Board with anti-labor spokesman. Another thing, under the republicans General Motors profits are up 113% while autoworkers income are only up 14%. Let's think it through; let's get an administration that means prosperity for everybody. Vote for Adlai Stevenson and Estes Kefauver, vote democratic!
